Music of The Pearl
I think the last line of the pearl means that the pearl was never meant to fall into the hands of people. It was to powerful and was taken from its home. The music represented the anger of the pearl and as it was thrown back into the sea, the anger slowly went out.The pearl was then, at peace. At first the pearl was such a great opportunity and hope for the family, but as the pearl got more restless it became a heavier weight on the family's shoulders. This was bringing the family to the ground and only Juana realized it. In the end, the pearl turned out to be a great power of evil to the family.

In the response, Cody referred to the repeated motif of music, but he only talked of the music of the pearl, and not the song of the family. Cody understood the symbolism of the pearl by saying that the pearl symbolized opportunity but eventually turned out to be evil. Cody said that the pearl dragged the family to the ground but did not specify what exactly happened to the family. Cody didn’t mention the pearl’s effect on society. Cody’s best line was when he said “At first the pearl was such a great opportunity and hope for the family, but as the pearl got more restless it became a heavier weight on the family’s shoulders.” This is a good sentence because it talks about the pearl’s effect on Kino’s family in an interesting way. I give Cody’s post a 3, met standard, because even though he missed a section, he gave me good information in an interesting way.
